Rodoteka

Honest genealogy

Sources, evidence and confidence

Genealogy is research. Rodoteka helps you tell proven facts from hypotheses and keep the evidence next to the people.

I

0–100% confidence

For every person, record how sure you are of the identification and facts. The tree shows it as a thin bar on the card.

II

Sources with scans

Parish registers, censuses, letters: add sources and attach page scans to them.

III

Structured notes

Notes split into facts, interesting facts and questions — in block mode or with the [D], [!] and [?] markers.

IV

Open questions

Questions you are still researching gather at the end of the chapter in the family book, so nothing gets lost.

Questions and answers

Why confidence if there are sources?

A source shows where the data came from; confidence shows how sure you are it is the same person. Together they separate fact from guess.

Who can see my notes and sources?

Only you — and the people you send a view-only link to.
